Dumb & Dumber?

Do you know where is Raffles Hotel? How about the new National Library? Yes. Umm...No?

You see, the reason I'm asking is that people often call to ask where exactly is my office located. The address is at Beach Road. BUT, the entrance to our office is along Purvis Street. Most of the time they are able to find us. Then there are times when even with the simplest directions, they are still lost. Like this afternoon.

Mr A: Hi. I'm suppose to meet Miss J and I can't find your office. Which part of Beach Road is your office located? Near any landmark?

Me: Oh. It's along Purvis Street. Near Raffles Hotel. Look out for the coffeeshop downstairs called YY.

Mr A: Oh....I know where...Ok. Thanx!

minutes later.......

Mr A: Hi. I called just now. I...ermm..still lost. Where is your office again? Near Concourse izit?

Me: No....you know where is Raffles Hotel? Raffles Hotel is along Seah Street. We are along the street after that. Purvis Street.

Mr A: Raffles Hotel? Not Concourse ah? Eeeerrrmmmm..........Raffles Hotel ah....Where ah?

This type of people make me feel like hitting them on the head. Where have they been living? Under a rock?

Once, a delivery uncle scolded me just because he couldn't find my office. He kept asking me why we put our address as Beach Road when we are along Purvis Street. My answer?

"Uncle, you go ask LTA/BCA/Lee Kuan Yew/Goh Chok Tong/President. Don't ask me. We don't make up our own address!"
